The Body Control Module (BCM) is a highly integrated chip. The full English name of BCM is Body Control Module. Its control objects are high-sensitivity transceivers with wake-up and sleep detection functions, which are used to achieve remote locking and unlocking of doors and windows, electric rearview mirrors, central locking, glass raising and lowering devices, vehicle lights (high beam, low beam, position light, brake light, turn signal light, fog light and interior lighting, etc.), window heating and defrosting devices, instrument backlight adjustment and power distribution. The driving load's actuators are motors (such as stepper motors, permanent magnet motors, servo motors, etc.), solenoid valves and electromagnetic switches. The load power ranges from several watts to several tens of watts or hundreds of watts. The internal devices of BCM include relays and other power components. It can directly control large loads

In the Chinese market, cars generally use 12V electrical systems, while cargo vehicles and buses typically use 24V electrical systems. In the 12V system, the BCM uses a linear voltage regulator. In the 24V system, the BCM uses a switching voltage regulator (which has high conversion efficiency but is more costly).

The input voltage range of BCM is from -0.5V to 32V, and the output voltage is either 3.3V or 5V. Nowadays, the number of electrical devices used in automobiles is increasing day by day. Regarding the power supply requirements, just like all electrical devices, the BCM also needs to design its own static current sufficiently low to cope with situations such as parking time or prolonged idling. If the battery is over-discharged, the vehicle will not be able to start. Moreover, the body control module should be placed as far away from heat sources as possible and provide over-temperature protection.

The ECU is an electronic control unit (commonly known as the vehicle computer), but it is actually a microcomputer controller specifically designed for automobiles. Previously, it was called a vehicle single-chip microcomputer. This automotive-specific single-chip microcomputer consists of a microprocessor (MCU), memory (ROM/RAM), input/output interface (I/O), analog-to-digital converter (A/D), including interrupt system, timer, counter and other functions (possibly also including analog multiplexer, display driving circuit and pulse width modulation circuit, etc.).

As a vehicle control unit (ECU), its main control focus is on the engine. The component that communicates with it is the powertrain control module (PCM) based on the CAN bus, which includes the engine and the automatic transmission.

PCM is used for the control of power output. It receives information from sensors and air flow meters, performs calculations, judgments and processing based on the programs and data stored in its memory, and then provides certain-width electrical pulse signals to the fuel injectors to control the fuel injection volume, air distribution (electronic throttle), the timing of fuel injection and ignition, and the adjustment of intake pressure.
