The car generator is the main power source of the car. Its function is to supply power to all electrical devices (except the starter) when the engine is running normally, and to charge the battery at the same time.
Based on the three-phase stator windings of the ordinary AC generator, the number of turns of the windings is increased and the connection terminals are led out, and a set of three-phase bridge rectifier is added. At low speeds, the output is achieved by connecting the original winding and the additional winding in series, while at higher speeds, only the original three-phase winding is used for output.
(1) Ordinary alternator, also known as "silicon rectifier generator" (requires a voltage regulator when in use). Example: JF132 (for EQ140).
(2) Integrated alternator (an alternator where the generator and regulator are made as one unit). Example: The engine of a Buick car is equipped with the CS type generator (including three different models: CS-121, CS-130 and CS-144).
(3) Pump-equipped alternator. (The pump installed on the pump-equipped alternator is a vacuum pump, not a vacuum booster pump. The vacuum booster pump is used in the automotive braking system).
(4) Brushless alternator (a generator without brushes). Example: JFW1913.
(5) Permanent magnet alternator. (An alternator with magnetic poles made of permanent magnets).
Classified by the structure of the rectifier
(1) Six-tube AC generator, e.g. JF1522 (used in Dongfeng automobiles).
(2) Eight-tube AC generator, e.g. JFZ1542 (used in Tianjin Xiaoli automobiles).
(3) Nine-tube AC generator, e.g. (used in Japanese Hitachi, Mitsubishi, and Mazda automobiles).
(4) Eleven-tube AC generator, e.g. JFZ1913Z (used in Audi and Santana automobiles).
Classified by the earthing form of the magnetic field winding:
(1) Internal earthing type AC generator. One end (negative pole) of the magnetic field winding is directly grounded (connected to the body).
(2) External earthing type AC generator. One end (negative pole) of the magnetic field winding is connected to the regulator, and then grounded through the regulator.
