Principle of operation
Collect the rotational speed pulse signals of the transmission output shaft and transmit them to the instrument panel and the vehicle's ECU, achieving:
1. Display of vehicle speed on the instrument panel
2.Cumulative mileage counting of the odometer
3.Assist in gear shifting of the transmission and cruise control
The working principle of the transmission speed sensor is to detect the rotational speed of the key shafts inside the transmission and convert these real-time data into electrical signals, which are then transmitted to the vehicle's control unit. Specifically, there are two main types of designs: Hall generators and induction sensors. Both of these designs can detect the state of the transmission by changing the magnetic field or voltage, thereby providing accurate data to the control unit.
The main function of the transmission sensor is to record the transmission speed and read the engine RPM, providing accurate data support for automatic gear shifting. The control unit operates accordingly based on these data, such as shifting gears at specific RPMs. Some advanced transmission control modules can even store the driver's driving habits and optimize the transmission performance based on this information.
