The wire harness wave pipe is a tubular elastic sensitive element formed by connecting foldable corrugated sheets along the folding and stretching direction. It is usually made of polypropylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), or polyamide (PA), which are the three common materials. It plays a very important role in the external protection of the wire harness and has the main characteristics of good wear resistance, a maximum temperature resistance of up to 150 degrees Celsius, and certain flexibility, as well as good resistance to twisting. Generally, the wave pipes are open-ended pipes, but there are also those without openings. There are flame-retardant ones and non-flame-retardant ones. The colors and specifications are diverse. Due to its excellent wear resistance, flame retardancy, and high-temperature resistance, it is usually used for wire harness wiring protection in the engine compartment and floor areas.

Plastic corrugated tubes are used for protecting the wiring harnesses in the engine compartment. A large portion of the wiring within the engine compartment is located on the engine body, with numerous sensors and actuators present, and it is necessary to consider both fixation and harsh environmental conditions. There are very high requirements for the protection of the wiring harnesses. To a certain extent, the level of wiring harness protection in the engine compartment represents the overall wiring harness protection level of the vehicle. Multiple aspects such as waterproofing, heat insulation, and vibration resistance need to be considered. Therefore, generally, heat-resistant corrugated tubes and industrial tapes are selected for wrapping. The protection of the battery part is also a key point, as the battery wiring harnesses are usually thick and not suitable for bending, so fixation is particularly important. Secondly, corrosion prevention and oxidation prevention are also indispensable. However, considering that the negative terminal connection points are plugged and unplugged more frequently than other parts, some flexibility should be given during the wrapping process to ensure durability.
