Throttle pedal sensor 3614-00079

The main function of the accelerator pedal position sensor is to control the opening degree of the engine throttle, thereby controlling the power output of the engine. The sensor is installed inside the accelerator pedal and constantly detects the position of the accelerator pedal. A Hall position sensor is used, and the accelerator pedal contains two position sensors. Redundant control is adopted. The accelerator pedal position sensor feeds back the signal to the EMS, which controls the throttle opening degree to accelerate the engine. The accelerator pedal position sensor detects how much the accelerator pedal is depressed, and the computer controls the rotation angle of the accelerator motor based on this signal to meet the intake volume under various working conditions. The engine control unit can use the signals from these two sensors to calculate the fuel injection volume. The accelerator pedal position sensor is installed on the accelerator pedal. When the accelerator pedal is depressed, the sensor sends the accelerator pedal position signal to the ECM, and the ECM controls the fuel injection volume based on the accelerator pedal position signal.

Function of the accelerator pedal sensor

1. The accelerator pedal position sensor generates corresponding voltage signals and inputs them to the throttle control unit. The control unit first filters the input signals to eliminate the influence of environmental noise, and then analyzes the driver's intention based on the current working mode, pedal movement and rate of change, calculates the basic demand for engine torque, and determines the basic expected value of the throttle opening.

2. Then, it communicates with the vehicle control unit via the CAN bus to obtain other operating condition information such as engine speed, gear position, throttle position, air conditioning energy consumption, and various sensor signals.

3. Based on this, the total torque required for the entire vehicle is calculated. By compensating for the expected value of the throttle angle, the optimal opening degree of the throttle is obtained, and the corresponding voltage signal is sent to the drive circuit module to drive the control motor, causing the throttle to reach the optimal opening position.

A damaged accelerator pedal sensor may cause the following phenomena:

Uneven acceleration: A malfunction of the accelerator pedal sensor may cause the engine to respond abnormally to the input from the pedal, resulting in an unsmooth acceleration process. You may experience delays or loss of power during acceleration.
Unstable power output: Problems with the accelerator pedal sensor may cause unstable power output from the engine, resulting in power fluctuations or sudden power loss.
Idle instability: Faults in the throttle pedal sensor may affect the engine's idle control, resulting in unstable or abnormal idle speed.
Engine fault indicator (Check Engine) is illuminated: A malfunction of the throttle pedal sensor usually triggers the vehicle's fault diagnosis system, causing the engine fault indicator light to come on. This is a reminder from the vehicle that there is some issue that needs to be addressed.
Enter safe mode: In certain situations, the vehicle may enter a safe mode to prevent the engine or the vehicle from suffering more severe damage. A malfunction of the accelerator pedal sensor may trigger the vehicle to enter this mode.
Warning light turns on: If the sensor malfunctions, the dashboard fault light will illuminate, alerting the driver to be aware of potential dangers.
