The intake and exhaust cooling system of an engine equipped with a turbocharger generally consists of components such as an air filter, turbocharger, intercooler, and their connecting pipelines. The gas pipelines must be connected using rubber tubes and steel pipes or rubber tubes and blow-molded pipes or directly with corrugated blow-molded pipes. By leveraging the excellent flexibility and vibration reduction properties of rubber or corrugated blow-molded pipes, the pipeline layout and assembly can be facilitated, and the ability of the gas pipeline system to buffer vibrations can be significantly enhanced. After the fresh air passes through the air filter and is pressurized by the turbocharger, the medium gas will experience a significant temperature increase, typically reaching between 150°C and 200°C. However, for engines with a high boost ratio, the gas temperature can exceed 200°C, even reaching above 275°C. After being cooled by the intercooler, the gas medium drops to below 60°C, thereby increasing the density of the fresh air, enabling the engine to inhale more air and inject more fuel, promoting more complete combustion, and achieving the goals of reducing fuel consumption and emissions and increasing engine power.

The intake hose of the intercooler can operate at temperatures ranging from 150°C to 275°C. The material of this hose must possess excellent high and low temperature properties, good oil resistance, and weather resistance. Among the widely used rubber varieties, common ones include natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, nitrile rubber, ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber, chlorinated butyl rubber, silicone rubber, acrylate rubber, fluorosilicone rubber, and fluorine rubber.

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) rubber and Chlorinated Butyl rubber are both suitable for products that need to withstand heat aging requirements under long-term use at 120°C and short-term use at 150°C. Obviously, they are not suitable for the intake rubber hose of the intercooler. However, Silicone rubber, Acrylate rubber, Fluorosilicone rubber, and Fluorine rubber all have a high temperature resistance of 150°C or above, and they can all be used as the intake rubber hose of the intercooler.
