The dry inertial type air filter consists of an intake hood, deflector plates, safety filter components, and exhaust pipe, etc. Its working principle is to utilize the suction force generated by the cylinder during intake to create a pressure difference between the inside and outside of the air filter. The external air is then forced into the air filter at a high speed under the pressure, and the larger dust particles mixed in the air are thrown into the dust collection cup to complete the air filtration.

The wet inertia type air filter, also known as an oil bath type filter, is mainly composed of a central tube and an oil tank.

Its working principle is that after entering the filter, the air flows down along the central tube at a very high speed, rushes onto the oil surface of the oil tank, and then its direction suddenly changes to upward movement, generating a rotational motion. At this time, some of the larger dust particles, due to the inertia effect, fail to follow the air upward in time and are adhered to the oil liquid. Thus, the air is filtered.

The dry filtering type air filter mainly consists of paper filter cores and sealing gaskets, and its working principle is that when air enters the filter, it is filtered through the paper filter core, and the dust in the air is separated or adhered to the filter core.

The wet filtering type filter is mainly composed of metal filters impregnated with engine oil. Its working principle is that after being filtered by the oil bath, the air passes through the metal filter with impregnated engine oil, and the fine dust particles are retained. Some of the dust particles are randomly dropped together with the oil.
